Hospitals website a big 'hit'
Leicester hospitals' new-look website has been named one of the most popular health websites in the country.
Since the www.uhl-tr.nhs.uk website was re-launched in April, the number of visits to the site has risen from 107,000 to over 112,000 in the first three months of the year.
Since the re-launch, visitors to the site have found it easier to find the information they want and far more information has been accessed. The number of web pages clicked on has shot up from 250,000 to over 1,000,000 page views so far this year.
The Trust's website has been ranked in the top 10 for numbers of hits in the medical and health category by internet intelligence analysts Hitwise for the period April to June 2006.
UHL's Web Editor Greta Smalley says: "We've made a number of changes to our website this year which have made it easier for visitors to find their way around and make better use of the information on our site.
"More than four times as many pages are being viewed by people from all over the world this year compared to last year. The most popular pages on our site are the 'working for us' page and patients looking for more information about the services we provide.
"Our e-greetings service is also very popular. There is the facility on our website to send a free greeting to a friend or loved one who is a patient at one of our hospitals. The e-greetings are hand delivered to patients by volunteers."
